I will tell you.
It is a person with whom you dare to be yourself. Your soul can be naked with him.
He seems to ask of you to put on nothing, only to be what you are.
He does not want you to be better or worse.
When you are with him you feel as a prisoner feels who has been declared innocent.
You do not have to be on your guard.
You can say what you think, so long as it is genuinely you.
He understands those contradictions in your nature that leads others to misjudge you.
With him you breathe freely.
You can avow your little vanities and envies and hates and vicious sparks, your meanness and absurdities and, in opening them up to him, they are lost, dissolved on the white ocean of his loyalty. He understands.
You can weep with him sin with him, laugh with him, pray with him.
Through it all and underneath - he sees, knows, and loves you.

Just one, I repeat, with whom you dare to be yourself.

Always be honest. Would you want THEM to lie to you?
Be there when they need you ... or you may wind up alone.
Cheer them on. We all need encouragement now and then.
Don't look for their faults, even if you think you have none.
Encourage their dreams. What would we be without them?
Forgive them. You just MAY do something wrong sometime.
Get together often. Misery loves company, so does joy.
Have faith in them. The human animal is remarkable.
Include them. You may need to be included sometime.
Just be there when they need you.
Know when they need a hug, and couldn't you use one too?
Love them unconditionally. That is the ONLY condition.
Make them feel special, because aren't we ALL special?
Never forget them. Who wants to feel forgotten?
Offer to help and know when "No thanks" is just politeness.
Praise them honestly and openly.
Quietly disagree. Noisy "NO's" make enemies.
Really listen. A friendly ear is a soothing balm.
Say you're sorry. Don't let them assume it.
Talk frequently. Communication is important.
Use good judgment.
Verbalize your feelings!
Wish them luck ... hopefully good!
X-amine your motives before you "help" out.
Your words count. Use them wisely.
Zip your lips when told a secret.

Friends Without Faces
We sit and we type and we stare at our screens
We all have to wonder, what this possibly means.
We chat with each other, we share all our woes,
Small groups we do form and gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody to type out our name,
We want recognition and offer the same.
We give kisses and hugs and sometimes we flirt,
In rooms we chat deeply and reveal why we hurt.
We form friendships but why is a thing we don't know,
Though most of them flounder some flourish and grow.
Why is it that on a screen, we can all be so bold,
Telling our secrets that have never been told?
Why is it we share those deep thoughts in our mind
With those we can't see, as though we were blind?
The answer is simple, it's as clear as a bell.
We all have our problems and need someone to tell.
We can't tell "real" people, but tell someone we must
So we turn to the 'puter, and those we can trust,
Even though it is crazy, the truth still remains,
They are friends without faces and with odd little names.
Touch my heart and I'll touch yours
With a gentle word or two,
For kindness bears the sweetest fruit
That makes our dreams come true.

There is that friend
that is so much a part of you, that you feel alone just thinking about the thought of her not being there.

that means so much to you, that you honestly believe you would stop studying for a final exam, break a date with your crush of five years, or risk being grounded just so you could be there to lend a shoulder to cry on, offer a hug, or spend three hours just sitting with her if that would make it at all better.

who you can talk to about something that happened when you were eight years old, and she can relive that moment so vividly along with you..
There is that friend
that knows you as well as you know yourself, and finds it special that you know her just as well.
There is that friend
who can make you smile through your tears, or cry out of happiness.
There is that friend
who is always there for you, and just realizing that she would be there is more than enough to make it better.
There is that friend
who cares about clearing away your tears no less if you are crying over absolutely nothing or over something she may have done to hurt you.
I have one friend like that, and it is that friend that will always occupy a precious part of my heart
